Midland Senior Women's Golf Association

The County Team Championships took place at Sheringham Golf Club  from 9th to 11th October 2017.
We always look forward to playing our golf on a seaside course and we were all looking forward to travelling to Sheringham. The weather forecast looked ok . This year, for the first time we had 18 teams entered, with Cambs and Hunts, and Worcestershire entering for the first time. The club looked splendid in the sunshine on Sunday afternoon and the Lady Captain, Sherrie, welcomed us and helped get everything set up.

Monday and the greensome was played in lovely sunshine with a light breeze .The course was in great condition, although the greens were slow and we all found them tricky. Some good scores were returned with the 2 lowest combined pairs taking the prizes.

Tuesday and what a different day with strong winds and conditions proving very difficult. Scoring was hard and with only 1 score in the 70's the CSS went up 3 shots. Everyone had a story to tell about their rounds that day, but we all still found the course challenging and exciting.
Then to the evening entertainment, with our customary bingo and big money to win, this started the evening off with a bang and boom £55-00 for a full house. We were entertained by the Sheringham Shantymen. They came highly recommended and they didn’t disappoint. Wow what a night. Sheringham rocked and we all had an amazing evening.

Day 3 and, with a few sore heads, we turned up to play and wow what winds they were. It felt like force 10 gales and I reckon a 4 club wind. Needless to say we all struggled, but neverless found the course a great challenge and the day ended with glorious sunshine. CSS went up and to the delight of everyone it was reduction only.
What a great time we all had at Sheringham and my thanks go to the club and all the members for a wonderful time. Sheringham will never be the same again.
