English Seniors Stroke Play, St Enodoc GC 19-21 June

What A fantastic venue for the English seniors stroke play championship. This season, for the first time, England Golf had introduced a handicap event. This was in addition to the main event and consisted of 2 rounds with handicap taken into consideration. Everyone who made the trip to Cornwall was blessed with fabulous weather for the first 2 days of play with Midland Vets fairing well.

The first 2 days of play saw 6 Midland players qualify for the final days play, putting in some good scores. The final days play was brutal in terms of the wind and players found the conditions very tough. Final scores Tracey Williamson 6th, Helen Lowe 8th, Lindsay Shaw 11th, Marcella Tuttle 11th, Sue Spencer 13th, Debbie Warren 16th. Tracey Williamson took the 50-54 age group prize.

In the Handicap event Jenny Smale of Whittington Heath played the round of her life, playing 6 shots below her handicap and going on to win the title by 6 shots. Chris Fisher, another Midland Vet and also from Whittington Heath, came 3rd in the same event.
