County Team Championships 2025

The MSWGA County Team Championships were played at Trentham GC on Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th September 2025. 

Format: Each county team consists of 4 players - better ball medal on both days - with pairings switching on day two. 

Results on Day One were very tight. The course was playing very long after the recent rain. Top pair gross score Julie Brown and Debbie Warren 75 (Staffordshire) on count back from Mel Davey & Sandra Maxwell (Derbyshire). Best nett score 69 Lindsey Shaw & Lesley Watson (Derbyshire).  Nearest the pin Mel Davey.  Top in the gross team event was Derbyshire 1, just one shot ahead of Staffs 1 and Leicestershire 1. Derbyshire had a great first day also lying 1st and 2nd in the nett event.

Jamboree Report 2025

Jamboree week started with windy 60mph winds, so practice day ended up with the team walking the course only before returning to the hotel after the welcome reception and dinner.

Day 1 saw Midlands achieve a great half verse North.  Strong opponents who pipped us at the post by 1/2 a point last year, with that rebound off the clubhouse wall to keep the ball in play.  The morning foursomes’ pairings met strong opposition and even their captain commented that not being able to play a practice round was a huge disadvantage to us.  So, to lose 2/1 gave us hope.  

Winds had dropped by a third but that still meant gutsy 40mph and unfortunately, we also had some squally showers.
