The Welsh Senior Womens Stroke Play was held this year at Cardiff Golf Club from 2nd to 3rd September. As always from the Midland Vets, there was a good turn-out for this year’s championships. The entry this year was 84 players, the biggest entry to date. The field was littered with the top Welsh and English senior ladies.

The course had suffered due to heavy rain and we were unable to play a practice round. As we walked round and surveyed the course we realised it would be a tough 2 days, with standing water on the course. Not so for Sue Spencer - Whittington Heath who led the field after the first round with a 75 gross, 2 over par.

Playing with ex British Champion, Laura Webb on the last day, Laura’s experience showed and Sue finished a creditable runner with a total score of 155 gross. Other notable scores from Midland Vets: Jenny Deeley - Enville 6th ; Fiona Edmonds - Ipswich 9th and Catrin Russell - Chevin 36th .
